Australian Paper, the manufacturer of Reflex paper, has lost part of its international green credentials after pulling out of an audit of its wood supplies.

The Forest Stewardship Council, which was tasked with auditing Australian Paper, was scheduled to investigate Australian Paper’s wood sourcing techniques. However, the company backed out from the audit that would confirm if the company sourced its paper from high conservation value sources.

Australian Paper denies that it is currently sourcing wood from forests threatened by logging.

"We pulled out because of a change in the definition of part of the standard late in the piece, which did not allow us enough time to then satisfy that changed definition," a spokesman from Australian Paper said.
