The Tasmanian Environment Protection Authority has called for expressions of interest for three positions on its Board.

The EPA administers and enforces the provisions of the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994, which is part of the State’s Resource Management and Planning System. It is government by a Board with an independent chair.

The terms of sitting Board members will expire at the end of June this year, and new appointments will be made by the Governor.

There are five positions on the EPA Board.  Current EPA Chair John Ramsay will continue in his role, along with new EPA Director Alex Schaap.

Appointments to the Board will be for a period of up to three years. Members will receive an annual allowance and appointments will take effect on 1 July 2011.

A statement of information for interested applicants is at www.environment.tas.gov.au

Expressions of interest close on 18 April 2011.

The Federal Environment Minister, Tony Burke, is continuing to push for a permanent end to cattle grazing in the Alpine National Park, demanding that cattle involved in a trial by the Victorian Government be removed from the park by Friday.
