Darwin asks what riders would like for their bikes
An online survey is seeking the views of bicyclists in the Northern Territory, in order to inform the construction of a biking network.
Darwin’s Lord Mayor Katrina Fong Lim says anyone currently engaged in or interested by bike riding should take part in the early days of Darwin City Council's draft Darwin Bike Plan.
The first stage of community consultation has been launched with an online survey. Ms Fong Lim says the survey will let people show how they use their bikes and what Darwin really needs to establish a safe and functional network.
“The bike plan will be a blueprint for us, going forward, deciding what type of infrastructure we want to implement, where we want to put our bike paths, where we want the Northern Territory Government to work with us in putting more bike infrastructure in,” the Lord Mayor said.
The Draft Bike Plan is part of the larger Evolving Darwin Towards 2020 Strategic Plan, which hopes to build a better and more sustainable future for Darwin residents through social and environmental initiatives.
