Queensland outlines waste infrastructure spending
The Queensland State Government as announced $13 million in funding for new or upgraded waste management infrastructure for councils in the state.
The government announced $11 million grants to be handed out to councils in this financial year for weighbridges, gatehouses, software, ticket printers, landfill surveys and other important equipment and activities. The remaining $2 million will be provided next year.
“These grants follow $4.1 million already provided by the State Government to councils last financial year,” Environment Minister Vicky Darling said.
The spending forms part of the State Government’s plans to cut its current waste landfill rates by half by 2020.
