The Queensland Government has launched a new online survey that is seeking public input for the formation of a future management strategy of the Fraser Island dingo population.

Environmental consultant Ecosure, which is currently reviewing the Queensland Government’s Fraser Island Dingo Management Strategy, has developed the new online survey that will help the Government form future management polices.

“It’s important every Queenslander has the opportunity to provide input into the way these unique and precious animals are managed,” State Environment Minister Andrew Powell said.

“Ecosure is carrying out an impartial, scientific evaluation of the way dingos are managed on Fraser Island and will provide recommendations to improve visitor safety while maintaining a sustainable dingo population on the island.

“As part of this evaluation, Ecosure has today released an online survey and invites all interested members of the public to complete the survey to share their views.

“The survey asks for input into a number of issues including public education on dingoes, dingo research and management, people management, dingo conservation and welfare and dingoes in the context of the island’s natural and cultural values,” Mr Powell said.

Mr Powell said the survey was available at http://www.ecosure.com.au/business-units/wildlife-management/alias/fidms/ and would be accessible until Tuesday 16 October 2012.
