Tasmania launches Low Carbon Diet campaign
Tasmanians are being urged to cut down on their carbon intake under a new 12 week challenge announced by the State Government.
State Minister for Cliamte Change, Cassy O’Connor, said that the participants of rht new Low Carbon Diet will be given information, ideas and resources they need to make changes in different aspects of their life that impact on carbon emission levels, including:
- transport;
- waste management;
- electrical appliances;
- consumer/shopping patterns;
- lighting;
- heating and cooling in the home;
- garden;
- water heating and usage; and
- food preparation and consumption patterns.
“By taking part in the Diet, people can learn some new tricks to reduce their carbon footprint, and will enjoy other benefits such as lower transport costs and a healthier lifestyle,” Ms O’Connor said.
