Taylor accused of gas pressure
Reports say the Federal Government has pressured experts who question its gas-fired recovery plan.
The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) last year prepared a report which did not support the government's position on gas.
When Energy Minister Angus Taylor received a draft copy of this report, he appears to have responded by pressuring then-AEMO CEO Audrey Zibelman to change the report's conclusions. AEMO refused to do so.
Mr Taylor says AEMO is ignoring the potential impact of gas on future electricity prices, which he claims will be driven down by increased supply.
Mr Taylor’s department is also alleged to have urged the head of the Energy Security Board (ESB), Kerry Schott, to resign after the board refused to support its position on gas.
