Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $90,446.20plus up to 13% superannuation

OFFICER ENVIRONMENT ASSESSMENTS

Role Overview:

The primary function of this position will be to act as the technical authority and point of contact for matters relating to the preparation and delivery of environmental assessments. 

This is an ideal opportunity for the candidate who has specific experience as an internal referral agent for the development application process, assessing applications against environmental legislative instruments to ensure Council's environmental compliance and sustainability. 

As Officer Environment Assessment, you will also be the subject matter expert to provide advice and support to internal stakeholders across Council in areas such as Infrastructure Services to ensure compliance with environmental and planning legislation on major capital works programs.

Your skill and expertise in communication and collaboration will be pivotal in finding that balance between environment protection and compliance and achieving much needed infrastructure completion targets, as you champion environmental matters.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Qualifications (Post Graduate Degree, Degree, Diploma) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Planning or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, contract management and stakeholder and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, manage time effectively, identify workload priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate outcomes, collaborate and work constructively with internal and external stakeholders, senior staff across the organisation and government agencies.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to Local Government.
  • Highly developed written and verbal skill to facilitate report writing, presentations and program preparation and delivery.

Essential Requirements:

  • Preparation and internal environmental referral advice on development applications.
  • Preparation of environment assessments related to Council Projects on Council lands.
  • Provide internal advice regarding projects with grant funding;
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Coordinator,
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, grant bodies and relevant government agencies.
  • Act as a senior technical authority and point of contact for matters relating to the preparation and delivery of environmental assessments for Council’s operational (construction and maintenance) works for the purpose of providing expert advice and support to staff to ensure Council compliance with environmental legislation.
