About the roles
We are seeking proactive and positive Supervisors with previous knowledge and experience in managing wastewater infrastructure. Join our Water and Wastewater Section and be part of developing great teams and delivering key services to our community. Opportunities are available in the following disciplines.
Supervisor Wastewater Maintenance
In this role, you will be essential in keeping our City's wastewater assets operating smoothly while continuously seeking innovative ways to improve our processes.
This role will be responsible for:
- Overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of wastewater investigations, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and environmental standards.
- Planning, coordinating, and organising maintenance works for wastewater assets, including rising mains, gravity sewer mains, and house service lines.
- Providing leadership and supervision to maintenance staff, ensuring effective communication and adherence to best practices.
- Managing stakeholder relationships, addressing concerns and complaints promptly and professionally. Coordinating the clearance of sewer chokes, ensuring timely response and minimal disruption to residents and traffic.
- Assisting in the ongoing improvement of work methods and materials, fostering a culture of innovation within the team.
- Monitoring workloads and outcomes to ensure targets are met efficiently and competently.
Supervisor Wastewater Rehabilitation
If you're passionate about infrastructure operating at its best, the Supervisor Wastewater Rehabilitation role is a perfect fit! In this position, you will lead a team dedicated to safety and efficiency in enhancing our wastewater systems.
- Planning and overseeing wastewater rehabilitation and repair works on mains and sewer assets.
- Ensuring all work meets City standards and complies with safety and environmental regulations.
- Supervising site operations and quality assurance methods, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Addressing customer complaints promptly, minimising disruption and inconvenience.
- Monitoring project costs and managing resources effectively to adhere to budget limits.
- Leading and supporting a team of wastewater staff, fostering a collaborative and adaptable work environment.
- Providing ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
Supervisor Wastewater Investigations
As the Supervisor Wastewater Investigations, you will be a key player in identifying and resolving issues within our wastewater assets. Leading a dedicated team, you'll ensure we maintain high safety standards and operational efficiency.
This role will be responsible for:
- Overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities related to wastewater investigations.
- Managing operational delivery for all wastewater investigations, including planning and coordinating works.
- Providing direction and supervision to field crews during smoke testing, asset inspections, and defect identification.
- Liaising with technical and administrative teams to facilitate effective communication throughout projects.
- Assisting in the planning and coordination of public notifications and communications as per project guidelines.
- Ensuring all work adheres to City standards, relevant legislation, and established protocols.
- Fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to resolve conflicts and achieve favourable outcomes.
- Leading and mentoring staff, promoting professional development and ensuring a safety-conscious work environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Cert IV in Water Operations (or similar)
- National Construction Induction (White Card)
- MR Class Drivers Licence
- Enter and Work in Confined Spaces
- Work Safely at Heights
- Relevant experience in a leadership / supervisory capacity
