This opportunity offers:
- Temporary employment up to 30 June 2026
- Full-time role & 35 hour working week
- Attractive annual salary $107,458 - $118,942 p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation
- Location: Sydney Olympic Park, RFS Headquarters (Flexible working arrangements considered)

What You’ll be doing:
We are seeking a motivated and strategic thinker to join our newly formed team as a Climate Risk Policy Officer. In this pivotal role, your contributions will shape policies and initiatives that protect communities, infrastructure and the environment from current and future bush fire impacts. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of climate policy development in NSW, with a focus on enhancing bush fire resilience. You will work in a supportive and innovative team environment, where your contributions will directly impact the state's ability to manage and respond to bush fire risks.
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- A background in environmental policy, climate science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, ideally within NSW Government.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of climate change adaptation strategies and bush fire risk management principles.
