As a global leader in plant genetics and crop enhancement, we are seeking a talented Omega 3 Trait Development Scientist to join our dynamic R&D team. The incumbent would be responsible to facilitate development of Omega 3-hybrid parents and varieties with suitable oil quality, agronomy, and grain yield for Nuseed’s Omega 3 target production zones.
What will you be doing?
- Lead glasshouse and field experiments to deliver Omega 3 germplasm with optimal oil quality and agronomic traits for hybrid development.
- Engage in trait upload and conversion to Ogura hybrid parents and oversee crossing projects for genetic improvement.
- Perform comprehensive data collection and analysis, manage field nursery design, and support parent selection and trait introgression processes.
- Supervise parent seed management, hybrid development, testing, and advancement.
- Collaborate with teams to characterize variation in the Omega trait and develop breeding tools for enhanced selection efficiency.
- Ensure successful and timely delivery of key project milestones, utilizing available resources effectively.
What do you bring?
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in biological science.
- Possesses experience in plant breeding and genetic improvement.
- Project management experience which includes leading or coordinating teams.
- Excels in communication, relationship-building, and has a customer-centric approach.
- Is detail-oriented with strong organizational and administrative skills.
