Data Scientist - Water Data Analytics (24 month term)

What you’ll do: 

  • Work closely with other teams to build and optimise ‘big data’ pipelines, warehouse/data lake and reports/visualisations.
  • Provide technical input relating to hydrologic, hydraulic components and water quality interactions of multi-disciplinary projects in a team environment to assist in meeting regulatory and business requirements.
  • Provide project management support to deliver key projects for the business and ensure that best practice project management is applied throughout the life of the project.
  • Integrate data into the development, maintenance and application of a strategic suite of ‘water’ models for water quality and quantity.
  • Post-processing of model data to inform water resource engineering activities for internal and external customers, to ensure hydrologic factors and water quality are well understood and managed with acceptable risk.

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or similar, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrologic/hydraulic data analysis, modelling and reporting.
  • In depth understanding of data analysis, data preparation, and/or data visualisation and knowledge of tools and techniques for processing data.
  • Knowledge and extensive experience in Python and R.
  • Extensive experience in database management and interrogation, including SQL knowledge and PostgreSQL experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of large data sets for modelling.
