Environment Coordinator

 

Jandakot Airport Holdings is seeking to employ a friendly, reliable and knowledgeable Environment Coordinator in a key supporting role at the airport.

Reporting to and assisting the Environment Manager, this position offers full time, flexible hours and a friendly, rewarding work environment for the right candidate.

The position offers exposure to a wide variety of environmental management disciplines, with the primary focus being tenant environmental compliance and maintenance / implementation of the EMS.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the ongoing maintenance and implementation of the airport’s Environment Management System, consistent with ISO 14001;
  • Undertake tenant/contractor audits and inspections;
  • Respond to, investigate, report on and close out environmental incidents, complaints and non-compliances;
  • Provide environmental advice to airport staff, contractors, tenants and operators;
  • Review of environmental management plans;
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance reporting to various Commonwealth and State regulatory authorities;
  • Assist the Environment Manager in implementing strategic environmental plans, as detailed within the Jandakot Airport Master Plan’s Environment Strategy;
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of various environment projects, such as feral animal management, bushland weed control and revegetation requirements;
  • Development and review of environmental procedures;
  • Assist the Operations Department in the management and implementation of the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan; and
  • General administrative assistance to the Environment Manager as required.

Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in environmental science or equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years’ industry experience in a similar role, preferably including EMS development and / or management;
  • Auditing experience highly regarded;
  • Knowledge (or ability to acquire knowledge) of relevant Commonwealth and State legislation;
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database management;
  • Excellent written skills;
  • Current and unconditional C Class manual driver’s licence;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
  • Ability to undertake tasks independently with minimal or no supervision;
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to meet deadlines; and
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
