Location: Fremantle and Rottnest Island (commuting), Western Australia

There are currently two (2) full-time (1 permanent and 1 fixed-term) positions available for a period of up to three years with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency, that will be filled from this process.

Water infrastructure at Rottnest Island includes production, treatment, storage, distribution and supply assets – including saline water 5 boreholes, desalination plant, piping and concrete tanks. Sewer assets include pump stations, wastewater treatment plant, irrigation system fed with treated effluent and reticulation. RIA has commenced significant upgrade works of both the water and wastewater systems and has multiple roles for Civil engineering and Project Management professionals to be responsible and accountable for managing existing and proposed water and/or wastewater assets, including:

  • Managing the planning, design, procurement and delivery of all projects - including maintenance, renewal, upgrade and new builds - at optimal value for money and within the set time.
  • Planning and overseeing maintenance of the existing water and/or wastewater assets to attain and preserve maximum operational capacity.
  • Contributing to the Strategic Asset Management Plan and Capital Works Program.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

  1. Substantial (Level 6) or extensive (Level 7) technical experience in the maintenance or planning, design development, procurement and delivery of water and/or wastewater gas projects.
  2. Well developed (Level 6) or highly developed (Level 7) verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Well developed (Level 6) or highly developed (Level 7) written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports to the Board as well as technical and procurement documents.
  4. Evidence of genuine team player with proactive attitude and flexibility to manage a diverse workload and competing priorities.
  5. Applies and promotes the principles of equity, diversity and work health and safety in the workplace.
